How do I get seen by a model agency?
- You can email them pictures.
- You can attend an open call.
We explain the types of pictures to send in another quick tip for beginners, and once you understand that you should go to the model agency’s website that you are interested in and look for their submissions link. At a minimum always include:
- Your age.
- Your height.
- Your measurements.
- And, where you currently live.
Include a short introduction and refrain from too much additional information. Don’t say things like “It’s my dream to become a model”, or “just give me a chance”.
Don’t expect a reply back unless it’s positive. Don’t hesitate to submit every 60 days or so, but do try and use at least one new picture each time.
Many agencies have open calls. Open calls are days/times that anyone can walk in and be seen. Expect a lot of other models at top agencies.
Bring your book (modeling portfolio) and if you don’t have one, at least bring a few prints they can have.
Dress so your shape can be seen well. You don’t have to dress provocatively.
Don’t put too much stock in the feedback they give you, especially in Los Angeles where everything gets sugarcoated. New York agencies can be very direct; don’t let your feelings get hurt.
