Our San Diego portraits are shot using

While great portrait equipment is of no use to unskilled photographers, it's quite important in the right hands.

Cameras and lenses

We shoot with two types of cameras. 35mm Canon: (1Ds Mark 3 and 1Dx) and Hasselblad's H4D-50. The Hasselblad system with lenses runs almost $70,000 so we do charge a premium to use it, but for most portraits it isn't necessary.

Lighting

We have a large arsenal of lighting with about 100 different lights and just about every light conceivable modifier for them. For portrait photography we have about a dozen go-to lights and modifiers we regularly use.

Backgrounds

Backgrounds are used for headshots, but for portraits we usually use a natural environment that helps tell the story.
